About Us

We empower young people aged 18 and under to influence and inform the decisions that affect their lives. We support young people to get involved in our community, working alongside the Dartford Borough Council, making a difference as volunteers, campaigners, decision-makers and leaders.

We are a non-political body of young people elected from the schools and voluntary youth groups in the Borough of Dartford from ages 12-18. We discuss issues ranging from knife crime to healthy living, and ensure that the voices of young people are heard and acted upon.

As a Youth Councillor of the DYC, you would also be given the opportunity to develop your interpersonal, presentation skills and confidence.

Not only would you get the chance to meet other young people, you would also have the opportunity to work with and join the Kent Youth County Council or indeed, the UK Youth Parliament.
